Backable List

The theme of today’s list is “quirky entertainment (ok and one toy) projects that look super awesome, but need a bit of a push to get them to the finish line!”

The Scary Godmother Doll

Who wouldn’t want a godmother with wild, curly red hair who prefers leather jackets to cardigans and might just have a trick or two up her sleeves (along with some treats)?

The doll is based on a series of popular character designed by Jill Thompson. In addition to being an amazing artist, Jill is also a staunch advocate for creator’s rights.

Edo Superstar

These guys had me at “Japanese-style RPG featuring a monkey as a main character.” Kickstarter is a great platform for featuring video games, but there’s a lot of competition on the site, so you’ve got to bring something special to the table to differentiate yourself. Which Edo Superstar has done – to the tune of more than 550 backers.

StarCraft Universe

Okay, so, the people at Upheaval Arts know they’re pulling on a lot of heartstrings with this game. I have fond memories of playing the original StarCraft when it came out almost fifteen years ago, and I’ve enjoyed many a Quick Match on Battle.net.

One of the awesome things about this project is that they’re going through with Blizzard’s blessing. Other franchises, like Final Fantasy, have laid the smack-down on similar Kickstarters, so Blizzard’s attitude is a breath of fresh air.

Are you crowdfunding?

Do you have a good base established for your crowdfunding project? Do you need some help getting to the finish line? Or do you want to blow past your stretch goals? Tell us about your project!
